Abstract: Security of life and property is undoubtedly one of the most current topical issues in discuss in the Nigerian tabloids and social media platforms. The fickleness and/or wavering nature of security of life and property in the country is not only a major course of concern for the government and the governed, but also for local and foreign investors who already have their investments in Nigeria or are planning to invest in Nigeria. This paper aims at examining the implications of security of life and property for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Nigeria. The paper employed the analytical and doctrinal research methodology in its approach to the study. The primary and secondary sources of data collection were also resorted to. Findings revealed that security of lives and properties is a sine qua non for Foreign Direct Investment to thrive well as every investor would desire to invest in an environment where his investment (be it in human or material resources) would be protected and safe than where insecurity is the order of the day. The paper recommended among other things that serious and concerted efforts has to be made by the government at all levels and key actors in security sectors to break the circle of insecurity which is negatively affecting the investment climate in Nigeria. This, if it is done, would attract steady inflow of Foreign Direct Investments into the country.
