Comparative analysis of regulatory bodies: Global and national perspectives

Author(s): Pratibha Hooda

Abstract: Regulatory bodies at both national and global levels play a crucial role in shaping governance frameworks that ensure stability, fairness, and public welfare across various sectors. This paper presents a comparative analysis of these regulatory institutions, examining their structures, mandates, effectiveness, and challenges. While national regulators possess direct enforcement, authority tailored to domestic contexts, global regulatory bodies primarily function through standard-setting and fostering international cooperation. The study highlights the complexities of coordination between these levels, underscoring issues such as regulatory fragmentation, accountability gaps, and the need for harmonization. It further explores contemporary challenges including technological innovation, cross-border crises, and political influences. The findings emphasize the necessity of stronger collaboration and adaptive governance models to address the evolving regulatory landscape. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of regulatory dynamics and offers insights for enhancing global and national regulatory synergy in an interconnected world.
