Legal protection to patients in the use of telemedicine physiotherapy

Abstract: Physiotherapy is one part of health science that has coverage in the fields of promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative aimed at individuals or groups and carried out on an ongoing basis. The emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic has caused people to feel worried about going to the hospital or physiotherapy practice to continue the program. As a result, many patients experience a decline in condition and other complaints arise. The use of Telemedicine needs to be considered, especially in the field of physiotherapy as an alternative to these problems. Based on the role of Telemedicine in the field of physiotherapy, legal regulations and legal protection from the use of Telemedicine to the privacy and security of patient data in physiotherapy practice must be considered. Legal protection is also a legal responsibility for physiotherapists and other health care providers who use Telemedicine. The purpose of this article is to find out the importance of the role and legal regulation of the use of Telemedicine in physiotherapy practice. The approach used in writing this research is a normative legal approach, relying on secondary data or literature study as the main source in collecting and analyzing legal materials. The results obtained are regulations or laws regarding pharmaceutical practices with Telemedicine are needed, especially to protect the privacy and security of patient data. However, the existing regulations are inadequate to regulate the practice of physiotherapy through Telemedicine, where this regulation only lists the standards of physiotherapy services but there are no specific regulations on Telemedicine in the field of physiotherapy.
